IT Audit Specialist
This position is a highly technical role in which our ideal candidate will lead and assist on audits with a focus on information systems, technology and security. This includes applying audit principles, properly recording documentation of audit and/or control work, and analyzing technology risk and controls. You will exercise critical analysis of processes to recognize potential issues, evaluate root cause and recommend changes to add value and improve Sentry operations. In addition, you will be responsible for developing audit programs and preparing reports that are delivered to and acted upon by executives across the organization, including at the highest levels of leadership. What You'll Do
The Audit Specialist will provide day-to-day technical analysis and problem solving to the audit function. You will lead and assist on audits to evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of control systems as they relate to the reliability and integrity of information, effectiveness and efficiency of operations. In this position, you’ll use your superior communication skills to share analyses with management to understand existing operations, technologies and data and help develop and formulate solutions to address your findings. Additionally, you will:
Evaluate information systems, technology and information security controls to assure that they are properly designed, implemented, and executed, including developing risk based audit programs and procedures to test effectiveness.
Communicate test results to management and achieve effective preparation and release of written reports. This will also include follow ups to ensure adequate action has been taken by management to meet accepted recommendations.
Assist Internal Auditors in the development of computerized audit techniques including developing or assist in developing individual audit plans and timelines to ensure the timely and efficient completion of audits. You will also work with Internal Auditors in understanding and evaluating system controls throughout the organization.
Performs audit responsibilities in a manner that promotes problem recognition and effective problem resolution.
What it Takes
Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience.
2-5 years of related work experience.
Emphasis in information technology/systems (IT), audit or a related field.
Experience in evaluating information technology, including network and system security, technology infrastructure and operations, change management, software development and project management.
Knowledge of insurance operations.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to pursue the designation(s) within selected area of expertise, including Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) or other related designation.
Demonstrated organizational skills, including the ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Ability to meet the travel requirement of the job.
