Working under the guidance of actuarial leadership, this role will help develop the analytical foundation that supports our small commercial products. You will contribute directly to pricing and product decisions that impact the future of Small Commercial at Sentry. This position can be filled as an Actuarial Analyst or a Senior Actuarial Analyst based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate. This position works within Sentry's hybrid work model and is eligible to work on a hybrid-basis out of our Stevens Point, WI or Madison, WI office locations.
What You'll Do
As an Actuarial Analyst, you will:
Compile, validate, and analyze data used in actuarial studies supporting pricing, reserving, and rate adequacy for Small Commercial products.
Assist in the preparation of state rate filings, statistical schedules, and supporting documentation for regulatory submissions.
Perform basic statistical analyses and support recommendations for less complex new and existing products based on analytical results
Document assumptions, methodologies, and factors used in actuarial calculations to ensure transparency and auditability.
Learn and apply Sentry actuarial methodologies, systems, and tools while developing a strong understanding of Small Commercial insurance operations.
Collaborate with actuarial, product, underwriting, and analytics partners as part of a cross functional team.
What it Takes
Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, business, or a related field. Or equivalent related work experience.
2–5 years of actuarial experience preferred.
Ideal candidates will have completed some actuarial exams and are actively pursuing additional actuarial exams.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to work accurately under time constraints.
Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to break down complex questions, evaluate assumptions, and develop practical, data‑driven solutions.
High attention to detail and the ability to document, explain, and communicate analytical work clearly.
Sound professional judgment, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Interest in learning pricing, rate filings, and actuarial techniques specific to Commercial insurance.
Exposure to or interest in data analytics, AI‑enabled tools, automation, or advanced analytical techniques, with a willingness to learn and apply emerging technologies in an actuarial context.
