Job description
As an Analyst on our Internal Control team, you will assist with conducting the review and analysis of the documentation, design, and implementation of controls.

We’re seeking a self-motivated professional with technical and analytical skills to join the Internal Control team as an Associate Financial Analyst. This position will be located at our Office in Stevens Point, WI in a hybrid work model and is not a fully remote opportunity.

Based on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate, this position can be filled as an Associate Financial Analyst or an Internal Control Analyst.

What You’ll Do

  • Performs reviews and analysis of the design, implementation and documentation of control points across all business areas. Evaluates the control impact when there are updates to business area processes.

  • Completes quarterly testing activities for business areas and processes. Develops and maintains test procedures used to determine the effectiveness of control systems.

  •  Provides specialized knowledge and consultation regarding applicable categories including, but not limited to, financial reporting, business process, application controls, segregation of duties, user access and security, data integrity and IT general controls.

  • Assists with identifying and communicating results related to the design and operational effectiveness of controls to all levels of management.

  • Ensures documentation is maintained in the core system software.

  • Participates in the Internal Control work stream for projects including system rewrites, changes impacting controls and installation of new systems and packaged software. Provides expertise to the project team and recommends opportunities for control and process improvements.

  • Assists with the completion of requirements to comply with the Annual Financial Reporting Model Regulation for Management's Report of Internal Control over Financial Reporting.

  • Assists collaborating with external auditors and business representatives in completion of System and Organization Controls (SOC) reports.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.

What it Takes

  • Bachelors degree in a Financial service field required (Accounting (preferred), Finance, Actuarial Science, or Management Information Systems)

  • Internship experience preferred

  • Knows or is familiar with fundamental accounting and financial analysis principles

  • Knows or is familiar with general applicable and accepted auditing standards, control framework, and regulatory requirements

  • Familiarity with principles involved with, and analysis and interpretation required for, preparing financial statements for internal and external stakeholders

  • Financial analytical, interpretive, research and documentation skills

  • Applied knowledge of PC-based software, including word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation applications

  • Ability to listen effectively and convey ideas through various forms of communication including written and verbal

  • Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or other relevant designation is strongly encouraged (ie. CIA)
