Investigate, negotiate and resolve claims in an efficient and effect manner.

This role will be filled in Stevens Point, WI – Division Street; Edwardsville, IL; or Madison Wi office locations following our hybrid work model.

What You'll Do:

As a Claims Representative - Liability, you will:

  • Support customers with empathy and understanding, assisting them through difficult situations and effectively communicating the claims process, the ongoing claim status, and decisions, including the reasoning behind them.

  • Verify coverage by thoroughly reviewing the policy and interpreting policy terms, conditions, and language.

  • Evaluate liability by taking recorded statements from involved parties and witnesses, reviewing police reports, and compiling other pertinent evidence. Negotiate or deny liability based on the investigation outcome.

  • Evaluate physical damage and bodily injury claims based on estimates, photographs, appraisals, medical reports, medical bills, and other evidence. Work closely with medical providers, repair shops, and/or contractors to facilitate necessary and related services or repair work.

  • Establish timely reserves based on the ongoing liability and damage assessments. Negotiate property damage and bodily injury settlements with policyholders, claimants or attorneys, and other insurance carriers to resolve matters within the evaluation. Timely pay claims within assigned authority limits.

  • Comply with industry regulations, legal requirements, and internal policies through thorough documentation of all decisions, correspondence, and discussions that occur throughout the life cycle of the claim.

  • Determine if subrogation exists and work with the subrogation department on recovery of damages.

  • Obtain and maintain state licensing requirements.

What it Takes:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum 1 year of related work experience

  • Insurance experience and/or coursework preferred

  • Ability to review and analyze detailed documents, insurance policies, coverages, medical terminology, and insurance regulations

  • Ability to make appropriate claim decisions, prioritize, and manage workload

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills

  • Technology aptitude

  • Demonstrated fundamental negotiation skills
