  • Assist in gathering standard information. This may include, but is not limited to, medical records, photos, police reports, statements, bills, and guardianship materials.

  • Establish and maintain department files, records management, and follow up systems. Create and maintain various files and logs to assist in maintaining orderliness and record keeping.

  • Receive, read, and prioritize mail and incoming calls. Respond to inquiries as appropriate, identify time sensitive correspondence, and route information to the appropriate area on a daily basis.

  • Complete standard forms including, but not limited to, basic pleadings, general correspondence, and required documentation for e-filed court materials.

As a Legal Assistant Senior -Staff Counsel, in addition to the responsibilities listed above, you will…

  • Provide operational support to attorneys and paralegals.

  • Complete standard documents and prepare basic correspondence including letters, form pleadings, reports, and other legal documents.

  • Assistant attorneys and paralegals with conducting basic research and information gathering related to legal matters and/or points of law. Including but not limited to case facts, verdicts, coverage issues, statues, and legal articles.

  • Gather and file materials with appropriate courts ensuring all information is submitted timely and accurately.

  • Coordinate calendars for assigned attorneys and paralegals including entering trial notices slash notes of issue on calendars, and notify insureds, witnesses, claim file handlers, or other Sentry associates of key dates.

What It Takes:

  • Associates Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Legal Experience and/or knowledge of legal terminology beneficial

  • Typing and electronic filing skills

  • Ability to prioritize work to meet external deadlines

  • Attention to detail and strong quality of work is essential

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision within time constraints
